Holy Land Bakery, Grocery & Deli
Holy Land Bakery, Grocery & Deli
Mediterranean / Halal

Sources: Whole-menu "100% grass fed Black Angus beef" claim

Longtime Northeast Minneapolis institution on Central Avenue, serving Mediterranean and halal dishes alongside a bakery, grocery, and catering operation. Their own site states plainly: "Holy Land Serves High Quality Grass-Fed Beef" and "The best selection of 100% grass fed Black Angus beef in the Twin Cities." A whole-brand claim in their own words, though the page doesn't add a separate grass-finished qualifier, so that's the claim we're reporting.

Porzana
Porzana
Argentinian Steakhouse

Sources: Grass-fed cuts named and priced separately from grain-finished cuts

North Loop Argentinian steakhouse from chef Daniel del Prado. Their own current menu lists "Grass New York 14 oz" and "Grass Fed Filet 6 oz" as distinct steak options, priced and labeled separately from a "Grain Finished Hanger 6/12 oz" on the same menu. A rare case of a restaurant drawing the grass-fed vs. grain-finished line itself, in its own words, rather than leaving the distinction to a supplier's marketing. No specific ranch or brand is named for the grass-fed cuts.

The Lowbrow
The Lowbrow
Burgers / Gastropub

Sources: Whole burger menu "100% Grass fed Minnesota beef," Niman Ranch named

Kingfield neighborhood burger and comfort-food pub. Their own current PDF menu headlines the entire burger section: "Made with 100% Grass fed Minnesota beef," and the menu's sourcing footer names "Niman Ranch Beef" as their supplier alongside Eichten's Bison and Fischer Farm Pork. Niman Ranch's own site confirms its beef program is 100% grass-fed and grass-finished, not grain-finished. A whole-menu-section claim in the restaurant's own words, backed by an independently confirmed clean supplier.

Frequently asked questions

Are there grass-fed beef restaurants in Minneapolis?

Yes, though the confirmed list runs shorter here than in some other cities. Porzana (North Loop) lists Grass New York and Grass Fed Filet as distinct menu items, separately priced from its Grain Finished Hanger, drawing that distinction itself. Holy Land Bakery, Grocery & Deli (Northeast Minneapolis) calls itself the best selection of 100% grass-fed Black Angus beef in the Twin Cities on its own site. The Lowbrow (Kingfield) builds its whole burger menu on 100% grass-fed Minnesota beef and names Niman Ranch, an independently confirmed grass-finished supplier, in its sourcing footer. Several other Twin Cities restaurants with press or review-site claims about grass-fed beef, including Tiny Diner, Prairie Kitchen & Bar, and Burger Moe's, did not carry that language on their current own menus when we checked directly, so we left them off rather than publish a stale or unconfirmed claim. See each listing for exactly what's confirmed and by whom.

What does Porzana mean by "Grass" versus "Grain Finished" on the same menu?

Porzana's current menu lists both a "Grass New York" steak and a "Grass Fed Filet" alongside a separately labeled "Grain Finished Hanger," using the restaurant's own words to mark the difference cut by cut. "Grass-fed" describes the animal's diet; "grain-finished" means the animal was switched to a grain diet for a final fattening period before slaughter, which is common practice even for cattle that spent most of their life on pasture. Porzana isn't alone in drawing this line on its own menu, we've seen the same pattern at Urban Farmer in Portland, but it's still uncommon for a steakhouse to separate the two claims this clearly rather than blur them together. We report each cut exactly as the restaurant labels it.
