NAKED Whey Review: One Ingredient, Full Stop

No flavoring, no sweeteners, no additives, literally one ingredient. Here's what that tradeoff gets you.

Our Take

NAKED Whey's entire pitch is the ingredient list: grass-fed whey protein concentrate, nothing else. It's sourced from small California dairy farms and NSF certified, which means an independent lab has verified both the label claims and screened for banned substances.

It's concentrate rather than isolate, so it carries slightly more natural lactose and fat than an isolate-based competitor. For most people that's a non-issue and arguably a plus, less processing to strip those out. If you're significantly lactose-intolerant, an isolate is the safer choice; otherwise this is about as unprocessed as whey protein gets.

The Basics

Single ingredient, unflavored, NSF certified, grass-fed whey concentrate. See our full whey isolate guide for how concentrate compares to isolate.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is NAKED Whey concentrate or isolate?

Concentrate, not isolate, despite competing in the same grass-fed category as isolate-based brands. Concentrate retains slightly more lactose and fat than isolate, which matters if you're very lactose-sensitive, but it also keeps more of the whey's natural nutrient profile intact and is less processed to get there.

Is NSF certification the same as third-party lab testing?

Yes, NSF Certified for Sport or NSF Content Certified both mean an independent lab verified the product contains what the label says and screened for banned substances, a meaningfully stronger claim than a brand just saying "tested."

Why does NAKED Whey have no flavor options?

The brand's whole positioning is a single ingredient, nothing to flavor it with keeps that claim intact. If you want flavor variety, look at a brand like Transparent Labs instead.
