- ·Leucine content — Look for leucine above 7% of total amino acids on the amino acid panel. This is the minimum threshold for stimulating muscle protein synthesis effectively.
- ·Protein percentage — Quality beef protein isolate should be 80–95% protein by weight. Under 70% suggests significant filler or collagen dilution.
- ·Added creatine or other ingredients — Some beef protein products add creatine (which occurs naturally in muscle meat). This isn't harmful, but it inflates the apparent protein contribution if you're tracking macros carefully.
- ·Grass-fed certification — Look for AGA (American Grassfed Association) certification, USDA Organic, or explicit "100% grass-fed and grass-finished" sourcing language — not just "grass-fed" alone.
